On January 4, 2011 the new Food Safety and Modernization Act (H.R. 2751) has been approved in the United States. The new legislation amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, reinforcing the safety requirements for the food supplies in the Country and enhancing the powers of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The main purpose of the new law is to avoid that unsafe food will cause damages to the health of the US citizens and reduce the risk of food outbreaks inside the Country.
