AfCFTA: what you need to know

A new booklet from the Africa Trade Policy Centre of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa gathers a series of frequently asked questions on the main features and objectives the African Continental Free Trade Area, trying to answer them in a language that is accurate but also non-technical and accessible at the same time.

The overall objective of the booklet is to help enhance awareness about the AfCFTA among the business community and the general public.

The publication clarifies concepts such as Customs Unions and Free Trade Areas, as well as operational tools adopted to support the implementation of the Agreement such as the AfCFTA-Guided Trade Initiative, indicating roles and responsibilities for the implementation of the AfCFTA and the timelines for liberalization of tariff in the different categories of African States according to their level of development.
